New Cinnamon Burst Cheerios

Because there should be, had everything gone as planned, of course you know it never does.
Myblogspark.com and Cheerios sent me a package of their new Cinnamon Burst Cheerios and a flip so I could tell you all about their new product. I’ve spent the last two days trying to get my video off the camera. Trust me it isn’t a problem with the camera it is all user error I’m sure. I’ve uploaded videos before, I know I can do it. Maybe it’s the fatigue of still not sleeping through the night, apparently no one has told little Owen that the hours of 10pm – 8am are for sleeping.

Anyway, video aside let’s talk about the new Cinnamon Burst Cheerios.
We eat a lot of dry cereal here, well let me rephrase that, I eat a lot of cereal. It’s simple, easy to make and even easier to eat, especially when you have a five month old who demands constant attention. I love that the new Cinnamon Burst Cheerios is flavored with real cinnamon; so many products found on store shelves in today’s market cannot make the same claims. For the many of us out there who are trying to make sure we eat more “real” foods it is a definite selling point.

Then there are the other perks, the ones that are found under the label Nutritional Facts. Over the last year I’ve been paying much more attention to this side the box on the products we eat. One cup of Cinnamon Burst Cheerios contains 110 calories. Sodium; a very important ingredient for us right now runs in at 125mg, so much lower than many other products. Seriously take a look at some of the sodium content of your favorite foods, I bet you’ll look at your cupboards much differently afterward. Yet, the new Cheerios doesn’t just boaster low calories and sodium; you can also find 5 grams of fiber in each cup, that’s 20% of your daily value. We look for products that offer 3 or more grams of fiber when shopping so it is nice to know just once cup of Cheerios meets those requirements.

But don’t just take my word for it. Give the new Cheerios a look the next time you’re in the store. Compare the side bar to that of the cereal you normally buy, I bet you’ll be surprised at what you see. And should you take a box home to try you won’t be disappointed with the flavor.

Now on to my Shutterfly review.
I’ve been using Shutterfly for quite a few years and have always loved their products, in fact they are the main reason I gave up scrapbooking. It is so much cheaper, cleaner, and quicker to design and order a Shutterfly photo book than it is to sit around all day designing and making scrapbook pages. Plus, to sweeten the deal even more Shutterfly often has great sales or coupon codes floating around that I can use to create a photo book or other product for much less than I used to spend on scrapbooking supplies. I love to pass them out for Christmas presents and have documented all our vacations, wedding, and now new baby in Shutterfly albums.

New Yoplait Smoothie Review

Myblogspark.com and Yoplait sent me a coupon to try their new Yoplait Smoothie mix and a small blender so I could try them out. I really wanted to share my review via vlog but with my ongoing cold and all the household drama we’ve had lately (more to come) it just wasn’t possible.

I will say though, the new Yoplait Smoothies are great. I love all the new products Yoplait is coming out with; each and every one is an improvement over your plain yogurt options of yesteryear.

This new product not only tastes great it’s super easy to use as well. Literally you cut open the bag, drop in the frozen mix and a cup of skim milk, then blend for 1 – 1 ½ minutes. Then enjoy your ready to eat smoothie. I tried both the Strawberry Banana and Triple Berry mixes. While both were good I will say I did preferred the Triple berry mix the most. I also love the fact that the Smoothie mixes make two servings and each serving contains one full portion of fruit.

Febreze Home Collection Review

I’ve had this amazing Febreze gift pack in my home for about two weeks now and can’t even express how much I love everything.

I was graciously given the gift basket by myblogspark.com and Febreze. There was a flameless candle, reed defuser, jar candle, and room spray all in the Green Tea Citrus scent. Also included were extra shades for the flame less candle in each scent.

Reed diffusers are not something we use that often in our home. Normally one of the cats ends up knocking the bottle over - I think they want to play with the sticks or something - and sure enough this one lasted about a week before Matt found it sans liquid. I do love the look of diffusers, they just don't work well in our living environment. And best of all I've recently seen these on clearance at Target and Wal-Mart so you should be able to pick them up pretty cheaply. ($7 - $9 I believe)

The flame less candle is really neat, the shade is always releasing a scent and the base flickers to look like a real candle when turned on. It is great to use when my sister is visiting - all the look of a regular candle but non of the wax or smoke. These have also been spotted on clearance at Target.

We were also able to try one of the new Febreze candles and you've got to try one for yourself to see how great they are. Honestly I' normally a Yankee Candle girl all the way when it comes to candles but I'll be adding Febreze products to my stack more and more. We used this one in our dinning room and you could smell it throughout the whole first floor. I love when you don't have to be within two feet or strain your nose to smell a good candle. These are just amazing.

Right now Wal-Mart has a ton of their Febreze candles marked down to $5 - with coupons that have been circulating you can get them for $2 to $5 - totally worth it.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t anyone else here to take the video so you won’t get to see me on the review… oh wait, maybe that’s a good thing. : )

Lets take a virtual shopping trip...

So I think I’m ready to make a semi announcement hopefully without jinxing anything…. drum roll…. Matt and I will “hopefully” be moving in the month of August! More to come on this new development in a future post – once papers are officially signed. Until then I wanted to take you on a virtual shopping trip.

The main problem with moving into this new house is our furniture situation. Matt and I have such an odd assortment of furniture, most of our stuff is all hand me downs or was purchased on the cheap right after college, making it either old or low quality. We really need some new things, so with a possible move in the horizon I've been spending a lot of time looking at furniture online. I really want to get quality pieces that will last for years and years this time around. Natural Valley Granola Nut Clusters

I love when you get the mail and find a great surprise. On Friday I opened the door to find a little box from Nature Valley with four full size samples of their new Granola Nut Clusters.

The new granola nut clusters come in four flavors; nut lovers, roasted almond, roasted cashew, and honey roasted peanut (amazing). Matt and I ate a full bag this weekend and they were great. I plan to take the rest of them to work and let others share the wealth.

I’ll definitely be looking for coupons to purchase some more – they’d be a great snack during a road trip.

Clean+Green Pet cleaning product Giveaway!

With the help of the internet I was given the chance to test out Clean+Green products by Sea- Yu. Clean+Green are the only pet cleaning products that are earth friendly. The products are all natural, ozone safe, and biodegradable.

I haven’t been able to find many products that will clean up our messes to my liking so I was excited to give them a shot. I received four products to try out in our home.

Litter box odor eliminator and cleaner
I received a can of the Litter box odor eliminator. Even though Matt and I eliminated a ton of liter smell by switching to the Breeze systems, when you have two cats there is always something. I also have one of those noses that can smell an animal smell as soon as I walk in the front door. The product doesn’t have its own smell which is great and it's effective on eliminates any odor. You can spray it right over the litter or surrounding areas. I’ll be using this stuff throughout the summer with enthusiasm.


Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner.
Ok so this is my favorite product of the four, actually of all time for pet clean up. Anytime you have an accident to deal with just spray and your done. Yes, it’s really that easy. I can’t believe it was really that simple but it was. Once you locate the smell just spray the spot and give it a few minutes to dry. After just a small amount of time the smell and discoloring are gone, even on my white carpet.


De-Skunk Coat Cleaner
Thankfully this is the one product we were not able to fully test from the set of four. The De-Skunk is used to rid your animal of any offending odors picked up outside (think of the name and picture skunks - then watch me shutter with the thought of it all). I sprayed the bottle in the area around me and love that there is no fragrance. With all the camping trips Matt has planned for him and BP this summer I know it will get some good use. I may be giving you an update in the future.

Furniture Refresher
Last but not least I am loving the furniture refresher as well. The smell (actually the non smell) is great and it gets rid of any odor. It even worked on the one area of the sofa BP likes to use for his scratching pad. He loves to come in from outside and run back and forth on the side of the couch. Trust me it's quite amazing, the spray not the dog running around. The couch is going to get a great spray at least once a week, I can't wait.

Orville Redenbacher 100 Calorie Smart Cakes

In my last freebies post HERE I mentioned I received a sample 100 calorie Smart Cakes pack from Orville Redenbacher. Last night I was able to give them a try and I must say they’re good, especially for something healthy. I tried the cheddar cheese flavor and found them to be light, crispy, and definitely cheesy. Not dry or bland like so many other options out there.

I will be using the coupon I received with my sample to try some of the other flavors (chocolate and Carmel) and of course more cheddar cheese as well.

MarioKart - Nintendo Wii

So I’ve been trying to update. I have really. It’s just that last week we bought MarioKart for the Wii and it has seduced me. I was addicted to Carnival Games, but I love the fact that with MarioKart you can play other people online. You have the option of playing strangers on a regional or worldwide field or you can input your friends and play them for bragging rights. It’s also most entertaining to watch Matt form and plan out a revenge attack against someone from England whom we haven’t met and never will.

MarioKart comes with the game and Wii wheel for $49.99. And I wouldn’t waste the money on buying an extra wheel. Definitely not worth it. Using the wheel allows a player on a bike to pop wheelies and do other flips in the air but it is ridiculously hard to steer with. I’ve been using my classic controller to play and find it much easier.

The other new feature is being able to pick your car/bike for each race. Each option has different features, some are great to use just for their look alone. You can also unlock secret cars and characters to race with.
There are eight different cups with four tracks each you are able to play. You start with four cups and have to play single player in order to unlock them; one of my only complaints about the actual game design. MarioKart is suppose to be a multi player game yet in order to unlock anything in the game it must be done in single player mode. What’s the point of playing alone to unlock stuff so that you can play with other people? I don’t think the people at Nintendo fully thought that one out.

One of the features Matt was able to unlock while playing by himself is the ability to play as our Mii. Not only in the regular tracks but online as well. This ranks, in my book, as a top five feature for the game. I’ve really grown attached to that Mii. She’s adorable.

And with that I’m back to beat Matt in another race. But have no fear we did attend a book sale today so expect updates soon.

The Kindle: Wireless Reading Device

It’s a first; I have nothing to blog about. I haven’t finished a book this week or watched any movies. Well I did watch Bee Movie with my sister but I’ve already written my thoughts on that one. The worse part is I don’t even have any good excuses of why I haven’t done anything blog worthy this week. I’ve just been…well lazy, I guess. I have a book I’m working on but since it’s not a page turner you’ll probably have to wait until next week to read about it. I do have plans next Saturday, which should lead to a good post.

So what have I been doing all week then? I have been using my available free time to surf the web, duh. For the past few weeks I’ve had my eye on the newest little gizmo from Amazon.

They are calling it the Kindle, a new wireless reading device. Basically it’s a small hand held gadget that looks like a palm pilot in which you can upload and read varying text on. Apparently it doesn’t require any cables, computer, or syncing and the Kindle provides its own wireless connection with no monthly bill. The wireless connection supposedly delivers a purchased book in less than one minute. At this time Amazon has stated there are more than 110,000 books available for download including many current New York Times Best Sellers. It looks as if most books will cost around $9.99 and you can download free samples (first chapters) of any text before deciding to buy. Along with books you can also receive updates from many top US and International newspapers, a list of top blogs, and Wikipedia.org.

The Kindle weights about 10.3 ounces, less than a typical paperback and can old over 200 titles; per Amazon’s informational site. Included with the Kindle are a book cover, power adapter, and USB 2.0 cable.

When I first saw the Kindle I thought it was something I had to have, right away. Then I saw the price tag; $399 is a little expensive for a portable reading device. Especially if they’re going to charge me ten bucks for each book I download. I can receive many of the Classics free online, or an actual book on Amazon’s own site for half the price. Then not only will I own a genuine book, but I can store it on my living room bookshelf. You know the shelves that hold more than 200 books. Well I guess to be fair that would also have to include my basement.

The page also doesn’t mention if there will be a fee associated with reading the newspapers or blogs available. I imagine there would be. With the Kindle providing free wireless they have to recoup their cost somehow, and I think an access fee is just the way to do it. But I suppose we should be happy I mean there is free two day shipping and gift wrap. Don’t forget the gift wrap.

I also wonder just how easy to use the Kindle would be. While the screen is large it’s not as large as a hardcover book page which makes me think the words would be very small or there would be lots of scrolling in order to read an entire page.

As I said Amazon says the Kindle provides its own wireless high speed data network, the same as cell phones so you never have to worry about finding a powerful connection. I’m sure this holds true for the Kindles current users, those that more than likely live in hot spots like California or New York. Once the Kindle grows in popularity will I be able to receive a book as quickly in my little corn field as those walking down Wall Street? I’m thinking that’s a no.

Of course none of this matters because the Kindle has been out of stock for quite some time now. Looks like Amazon didn’t quite realize how in demand their new device would be. If you decide you just can’t wait for that free shipping and gift wrap the Kindle is going for around $410 on eBay.com. For me there is a still a whole corner in my basement that hasn’t been filled with totes full of books, why let it go to waste? Until someone sends me one for free or the price drops below $200, I think I’ll stick with real paperbacks.
